Visited A Pet Cemetery

This morning before work, I headed to a section of the Presidio I had not explored before. Near McDowell and Cowles, the Presidio has a pet cemetery that is the final resting place for the hundreds of animals owned by military families that were stationed at the Presidio.
The pet cemetery has been around since the 1950's, when this area of the city was home to about 2,000 army families.

Unfortunately, when I found the site of the pet cemetery, I discovered that it was closed due to the Presidio Parkway/Doyle Drive Construction Project.

I was able to peek in through the fence and see some of the gravestones.

While I didn't get to see everything I wanted to see, I now know where the pet cemetery is, and I look forward to coming back and seeing it when it reopens near the end of the year.
