Fatted Calf is a charcuterie in Hayes Valley on Fell and Gough.
They sell high quality meats like grass-fed beef and free range poultry.
They also carry an assortment of smaller grocery items.
They also serve an assortment of sandwiches, and this is the reason I decided to go there today. For lunch, I ordered their item on the 7x7 Big Eat List, their Classic Meatloaf Sandwich.
This is a delicious sandwich. The lettuce is crisp, the bread is firm and tasty, the red onions had a very nice crunch to them, they put the exact right amount of mustard, and the meatloaf is nicely seasoned. Texture and taste-wise, it's just right. Each element adds to the sandwich while not overpowering any of the other parts. I think it's special, and if you're in the neighborhood, check it out.
