Twisted A Balloon Animal

BaloonAnimals.png
I’ve always thought balloon animals were cool, and kids love them.  I decided I wanted to try my hand at making one for two reasons:

  • 1)I thought it would be a fun thing to learn.
  • 2)The thought of popping balloons in my hand frankly terrifies me.  Maybe I’d be able to conquer something that makes me uncomfortable.

J ordered some twisting balloons, which came with a hand pump.

On the back of the package, there’s instructions on how to make a dog.  This looked cool, so I decided to give this a shot.  J blew up the first balloon with the pump and I tied the end.

To make a dog is not too bad.  I folded the balloon and twisted.

My dog had legs.  Cool!  I went for a second fold twist.

Then, I tried a third one for the head.

Three steps is all you need to make a dog from a balloon.  Pretty cool.

I tried another one with a blue balloon after that.

This was fun, but nerve-wracking at the same time.  The balloons are much more resilient than I thought they were, but at the same time, I kept thinking they were going to pop any second.  I may not have conquered my fear, but these things don’t happen overnight.  I’d like to make some more complex balloon figures another time.
