Used the InstaCollage App (216/366)

“I like to make pictures about people who make a difference.”
Jerry Bruckheimer

Another installment in my “I love free apps!” category!  Facebook is awesome, and the mobile app for the iPhone makes it so you can share pictures with your friends as they’re happening.  Great!  But sometimes I want to share multiple pictures without inundating my friends’ feeds with all of them as I post them one by one.  Well “there’s an app for that” and it’s called InstaCollage.  I just found it on the app store, and it’s great for not only making collages of pictures you want to put together, but even for altering those pictures so they look great, too – all on your iPhone.

When you open the app, there are all sorts of choices for templates – how many pictures you want to use, what shapes you can have them in, etc. – you just swipe through each page of templates and pick the one you want.  I chose one that caught my eye.

I wanted to make a collage for one of my favorite people in the world, our friend C, for her birthday today (Happy Birthday, Crinks!!!), so I started with a recent picture of us at the Space Needle last year.  All I had to do was tap the section I wanted the photo to be in, and select the picture from my photo album.  Bam!

Next, I chose a photo of O that C had taken recently.  Here’s where the cool editing features came into play.  It was a really sunny day when this shot was taken, so the shot was just a little washed out.  I brought down the brightness just a smidge and also boosted the saturation.  Awesome!

Then I grabbed a ridiculously hilarious picture that I photoshopped of me and C – kind of – I had taken our heads off of two different Facebook pics and put them on a poster from “Night at the Roxbury” – one of our favorite movies.  I also chose a ridiculously adorable picture of the girls together (as if there are any that aren’t adorable!).

For the last spot I chose a picture C sent me recently.  A beer she had eyebombed (another activity we share a love of!).  Perfect!  And, I was done!

There are a lot of saving/sharing options, too – you can simply save it to your own camera roll, you can email it, or you can send it to the interwebs on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram.

This app is fantastic – intuitive, pretty powerful, and simple.  The hardest thing about using it is choosing which photos to use!  There is a “Pro” and a “Free” version and I’m only writing about the free one here.  With the free version being this great, I can only imagine how much cooler the Pro version is.  Download this now!
