Gotten a Hotel Grooming Kit (279/366)

We’re in L.A. for our good friend’s wedding, and for some reason on this trip out we were just not on our normal travel game.  I think it’s because it’s such a short trip away, and such a short length (we’re just down here for the weekend), we just didn’t plan well.  On the flight out, Nick remembered he hadn’t packed his razor (and he’s IN the wedding party – he needs to look good).  When I was unpacking my clothes for the wedding, even though I brought several changes of clothes “just in case,” I realized I did not bring the shorts I like to wear under dresses.  I’ve been wearing these shorts for years!  And just completely forgot to bring a pair.  And I brought THREE dresses.  Dummy.

Then as I was unpacking our toiletries, I realized Nick had forgotten to pack his contact lens solution.  Ugh!  We figured it would be okay – he’s slept with his lenses in before.  And THEN, I realized we also forgot to pack our electric toothbrush this morning!  ARGH!

I know some hotels have cheap toothbrushes and sometimes disposable razors that you can ask for when you’ve forgotten something, so I asked Nick to call the front desk to see if they had either one.  The extremely helpful lady at the front desk asked if he would like a “Men’s Grooming Kit” and started listing all the things it included.  Nick asked, “How much is that?” and she told us it was complimentary!  Yay!  She asked if we would like one or two.  We asked for two, and she then clarified there was a ladies’ kit as well!  Woohoo!

When the kits came we busted them open.  How awesome!

Each kit contained a toothbrush, a comb, and a razor, but also a bottle of hairspray, antiperspirant and a bottle of mouthwash; but the men’s kit also included a can of shaving cream and the women’s includes two makeup remover towelettes, a shower cap, and a “vanity kit” containing an emery board and cotton swabs.  Actually, the men’s kit included *two* razors, *two* mouthwashes, and a tube of toothpaste.  Ha ha ha Nick and I said the men’s kit has more of that stuff because men are stinky.

Again, I’ve known hotels offer various disposables to guests when they’ve forgotten the random toothbrush or razor, but to get a whole “grooming kit” from our front desk was a lifesaver, especially with such a special occasion going on this weekend!
