Gambled in a Casino (164/366)

“You got to know when to hold ’em, know when to fold ’em,
Know when to walk away and know when to run.
You never count your money when you’re sittin’ at the table.
There’ll be time enough for countin’ when the dealin’s done.”
~ Kenny Rogers, “The Gambler”

My grandma loved to gamble, she loved entertainment, and she loved great food.  No wonder she bought a timeshare in Las Vegas decades ago.  Two years ago, Nick and I got to use the timeshare when we got CrossFit Mobility certified at one of Coach Kelly Starett’s mobility seminars in Las Vegas, and although it was my first time visiting as an adult, it was a last-minute trip and we didn’t get to sight see too much.  Then last year,  we came out to Vegas again and Nick saw the Grand Canyon for the first time, we went rock climbing, and tested our gastric mettle going to all seven of the Buffet of Buffets eateries.

Well, we’re here again in Vegas, Baby, Vegas!  And this time, I thought I should really try my luck at gambling.

Tonight the family went to the Rio Casino for the great buffet they have there, and after a delicious dinner, Nick and I ventured out onto the casino floor.

We found our Machine – Video Poker.  No, it’s not as flashy as some of the newer games, but it was my first time gambling one one of these so I’d rather not have other people around anyway.  Not much problem with this one!

I put my money in (one crisp, dollar bill!), and started the game.

Alright … hold the two Kings and the Queen … and yeah, baby, I won my credit back!

Woah, two pair, right off the bat … and I won my credit back again!  Woohoo, I haven’t lost yet!

Alright, a real hand.  I could win big, or I could bust.  I’m gonna go for the straight …

Ha ha ha, so I only bet one credit – but I won almost my whole investment back!  This is where they reel you in, so you keep playing and lose all your money.  Not me!  I cashed OUT!

Makin’ that paper!  Bwah ha ha ha!

I finally threw down some cash and gambled under the bright lights of Sin City.  And I walked away a winner.  I almost doubled my money.  I’m a pro!
