Eaten a Doritos Locos Taco (304/366)
“An Angel from the outfield delivered me free tacos!”
~ Nick
During the Postseason of Major League Baseball, Taco Bell announced that “if any player steals a base during the World Series” Taco Bell would give away a free Doritos Locos Taco – a crazy combination of a normal taco, encased in a Doritos-chip shell – to every person in America.
On game two of the World Series, Ángel Pagán of my San Francisco Giants stole second on a magical slide in true Angel style.
Free tacos for everyone! Well, in small print it was listed that the offer was valid “at participating locations”. While we surmised that Taco Bells in the SF Bay Area were going to be over run with people wanting their free tacos, Mom and I thought that since we were going to Hawaii today, maybe it wouldn’t be so crowded (baseball’s not huge here – and the team on the local stations is usually the Anaheim Angels – blerg!).
Well, in all its orange glory, here is the Doritos Locos Taco:
The verdict? Not bad! I remember when these first came out some people were calling them “genius” while others called them an abomination – just way too far over the top. But come on, if you’re gonna eat Taco Bell, it’s pretty safe to say you’re not going there for “light and fresh” or “subtle” flavors. This was something fun, and the right color to boot. Gracias, Ángel Pagán!
